As a not-for-profit event, we believe in being transparent with our community. With the 2026 Toronto Indie Author Con now behind us, we’re releasing our Profit & Loss statement to show exactly how the event came together financially.

From venue costs to speaker honorariums, every line item reflects our commitment to building a valuable and sustainable event for indie authors. Whether you attended, volunteered, sponsored, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines, we want you to see how your support made this conference possible.

Due to upgrading to a larger library venue and lower-than-expected ticket sales, we ended the year with a loss of $9,983.14. This figure does not include the $10,000 in sponsorship support from Starlit Publishing to Indie Authors Canada for operating expenses. With that support included, we were effectively able to break even this year. However, to ensure the long-term sustainability of Toronto Indie Author Conference, we will likely need to reassess ticket pricing and consider potential adjustments to venue selection in future years.
