We want to make our community aware of a situation that has recently come to our attention.
It has been reported that individuals are contacting authors using the Toronto Indie Author Conference (TIAC) name in a way that is not affiliated with our organization. These messages are being sent from the email address torontoindieauthorconference@gmail.com and invite authors to participate in curated “reader experiences,” book clubs, or similar opportunities connected to the conference.
We want to be very clear:
This outreach is not from TIAC.
All official communication from the Toronto Indie Author Conference comes from email addresses associated with our domain:
@torontoindieauthorcon.com
We do not conduct outreach in this format, and we do not offer paid or curated “reader experience” opportunities like those described in the message.
While the message may appear thoughtful and personalized, it is not authorized by our team.
What You Should Do
If you receive a message like this:
- Do not engage or provide any personal information
- Do not send payment or agree to participate
- Mark the message as spam
- If you’re unsure, contact us directly through our official website or email
We are actively monitoring the situation and appreciate the authors who have already brought this to our attention. Protecting our community is extremely important to us, and we will always be transparent when issues like this arise.
If you have received a similar message or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for helping us keep the community informed and safe.
