FAQ: Your Conference Checklist

Q: How do I sign up for a workshop?

A form will be sent on April 14th at 6pm EST and you’ll have the chance to select up to 3 workshops. On the day of the event, people who’ve signed up will get first entry and if there are any seats remaining at the workshop start time, those can be filled on a first come first serve basis. Each workshop has 50 seats and once they’re full, they’re full.

Make sure you’re signed up before April 14th to get the workshop signup sheet!

Q: I’m interested in getting a first chapter critique from Editors Canada. Where do I sign up?

Editors Canada will be offering free first-page edits and editing consultations to sixteen Toronto Indie Author Conference attendees on a first-come first-served basis. Interested attendees will submit 1-2 pages of their work in advance for review by an experienced editor. They will then attend a 15-minute-long scheduled editing consultation between 10:15 AM and 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the TIAC office.

The submission details were included in an email that went out to all attendees today. If you didn’t receive the email and it’s not in your spam, send us an email at hello@torontoindieauthorcon.com or via Discord.

Q: Where can I find my ticket?

Your ticket should have been sent to you via email at the time of purchase. If you can’t locate it, don’t worry! Simply reach out to us at hello@torontoindieauthorcon.com, and we’ll happily resend it.

Note: Check-in will be done by name, so the ticket itself isn’t necessary.

Q: Where is the conference located?

The conference will take place in Beeton Hall in the Toronto Reference Library. To enter, please use the main entrance of the library. Outside of regular hours, the entrance will be locked, so you’ll need to knock to get the security guard’s attention. Once the guard is notified that you’re here for the conference, they’ll let you in and direct you to Beeton Hall.

Q: How do I get there?

The easiest way to get to the Toronto Reference Library is by taking the TTC to Bloor-Yonge Station. Once you exit the subway, head up to the street level. At the Bloor-Yonge intersection, walk north along Yonge Street on the east side. The library will be just a 2-minute walk ahead.

Q: What time does the conference start and end?

The conference runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days. On Saturday, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Kobo will be recording their Kobo Writing Life podcast live and attendees are welcome to sit in. Registration opens at 8:30 AM each day. Please note that the library opens at 9:00 AM, so we kindly ask that you arrive no earlier than 8:30 AM to avoid waiting outside.

Q: What will be provided?

We’ll have coffee and tea available in the morning. Please bring your own notebook or laptop, as well as a water bottle to stay hydrated. A list of nearby restaurants for lunch will be shared as we approach the event date.

Q: Is there parking available?

Yes, the closest parking garage is the Parking Indigo Toronto – Yonge and Bloor Garage.
